FLIPSIDE : Eastside Hawkeyes Bring More Than Football to the Field in Detroit

The Eastside Hawkeyes organization is a football team, but promises to produce more than just athletes in their community. The coaches and volunteers of the program have dedicated their efforts to increase positive values, self-esteem and courage in the youth who participate.
The Hawkeyes team has four different levels of competition so any interested athlete between the ages of seven and sixteen will be able to participate and compete with youth of the same age range. The four levels of competition are the 3rd Grade Team (coached by Chris Kyles), the 5th Grade Team (coached by Ron Chenault), the 7th Grade Team (coached by Thomas Drake) and finally the 9th Grade Team (coached by Demarius Jefferson).
If you are in the Detroit area you will have a chance to see the Eastside Hawkeyes in action this Sunday, August 14th at 2pm EST as they take on the Eastside Bengals @ Osborn High School. This is a benefit game and the proceeds from ticket sales will be given to charity for homeless individuals in the community.
